Shoulder bolts have a precision-ground plain shoulder and a smaller threaded end, so they act as an axle, pivot or guide pin as well as a fastener. We stock ISO 7379 / DIN 9841 in Umm Al Quwain in 12.9 alloy steel and stainless, shoulder diameters 6 to 25 mm, with matching washers and nuts.
A socket head shoulder bolt (shoulder screw, stripper bolt) has three sections: a socket head, a ground shoulder of close tolerance (h8) and a threaded end one size smaller than the shoulder. The shoulder provides a bearing surface for a rotating or sliding part — a roller, lever, pulley or die stripper plate — while the thread clamps the bolt to the base. Length is specified by the shoulder length, not overall length.
Applications
- Press tool stripper plates and die sets
- Pulleys, rollers and cam followers
- Pivots and linkages in machinery
- Conveyor guide rollers and gates
- Robotics and automation fixtures
- Motorcycle, bicycle and vehicle components
