Quench & Temper
Quenching and tempering in batches of 400–500 kg, hardened to grade and independently verified.
Quenching and tempering is what turns a formed bar into a graded fastener. The part is heated, quenched to harden it, then tempered back to remove brittleness and reach the required strength. Get it wrong in either direction and the bolt is either too soft to hold load or too brittle to survive shock. We treat in batches so a whole lot shares the same thermal history, and the results are verified by an independent laboratory rather than by us.
What we use it for
- Anchor bolts to ASTM F1554 Grade 55 and 105
- Studs and bolts to property class 8.8 and 10.9
- ASTM A193 B7 studs and bolts
- Customer parts sent in for treatment
- Re-treatment of parts that failed to reach grade
- Batch treatment so a full lot shares one thermal history
Applies to the anchor bolts, studs and plate washers we manufacture, and to customer parts sent in for processing. Hex bolts, nuts, standard washers and other components are imported and supplied from stock.
