Dowel baskets are welded in our Umm Al Quwain plant: the dowel bars are held on a steel wire cradle at the specified spacing, height and alignment so they can be placed on the sub-base and concreted in without site fixing. Baskets are made to your slab thickness, dowel size and joint length, and delivered stacked and strapped.
A dowel basket (dowel bar assembly) is a factory-made cage that positions dowel bars across a pavement joint. Because the bars are welded parallel to each other and to the road surface, the joint can open freely and load transfer is consistent along its whole length. Baskets are pinned to the sub-base, the joint is sawn over the centre of the dowels after the pour, and the shipping wires are cut before concreting.
