Carriage bolts have a domed head and square neck that locks into timber or a square hole so the nut can be tightened from the other side. We stock DIN 603 / ISO 8677 in Umm Al Quwain from M6 to M30 in grade 4.6, 8.8 and stainless A2 / A4, zinc plated and hot-dip galvanized, with nuts and washers.
A carriage bolt (cup square hex bolt, coach bolt) has a smooth, low-domed head with a square section directly beneath it. Pulled into a timber member or a square punched hole, the square neck prevents the bolt turning, leaving a tamper-resistant smooth head on the outside. It is the standard bolt for timber construction, playground equipment, guard rails and any place where the head must be smooth and inaccessible.
