About this product

Fix Shield Anchor explained

Shield anchors are heavy-duty expansion anchors for concrete, brick and block, and we stock the loose-bolt and projecting-bolt types in Umm Al Quwain from M6 to M30, zinc plated and hot-dip galvanized. They are the standard post-installed fixing for brackets, base plates and machinery on site.

A shield anchor is a sleeved expansion anchor with a segmented shield that expands against the hole wall as the bolt or nut is tightened, drawing a cone into the shield. It gives high pull-out and shear capacity in solid substrates and is forgiving of hole tolerance. Loose-bolt shields take a separate hex bolt; projecting-bolt (stud) shields have a threaded stud and nut; eye and hook versions are available for cables.

  • Machinery, racking and equipment anchoring
  • Cable tray, pipe support and bracket fixing

Standards, grades & finishes

Anchors to DIN / ISO manufacturer specification with carbon steel bolts class 5.8 / 8.8 and shields in zinc-plated steel; hot-dip galvanized and stainless A4 versions for external use. Sizes M6 to M30 with fixture thicknesses to suit. Load data per manufacturer technical sheet; setting requires a clean hole of the specified diameter and depth.

This item is imported from approved mills and held in stock in our Umm Al Quwain warehouse alongside the anchor bolts, studs and plate washers we manufacture ourselves, so complete bolt sets ship from one source. Tensile, hardness and chemical testing is carried out by independent UAE-accredited laboratories, and EN 10204 3.1 certificates are issued with every batch. We supply across the GCC, MENA and Africa.

Frequently asked

Fix Shield Anchor — FAQ

What is the difference between a shield anchor and a through bolt?

A shield anchor expands a sleeve against the hole and is set in a hole larger than the bolt; a through bolt is drilled through the fixture and set in a hole the same size as the bolt. Shield anchors suit weaker substrates and larger fixtures.

What hole size do I drill?

Equal to the shield outside diameter, not the bolt size — the size is printed on the anchor box and datasheet.

Are shield anchors available in stainless?

Yes, A4 (316) for coastal and external use.
