About this product

Swage Stud (Cable Terminal) explained

Swage studs terminate a wire rope with a threaded end so it can be tensioned with a nut, turnbuckle or fork. We stock them in Umm Al Quwain for 3 to 26 mm cable, threaded M6 to M36 right- and left-hand, in 316 stainless and galvanized steel, alongside swage forks, eyes and turnbuckles.

A swage stud is a cylindrical fitting with a bore for the wire rope at one end and a threaded stud at the other. The bore is cold-swaged (compressed) onto the rope with a hydraulic swaging tool, giving a terminal with 90–100% of the rope breaking strength. Threaded swage studs connect to turnbuckle bodies, tensioners and brackets and are the standard terminal for architectural cable balustrades, guy wires, mast rigging and cable-net façades.

Applications

  • Stainless cable balustrades and handrails
  • Guy wires for masts, towers and tents
  • Cable-net façades and green walls
  • Yacht rigging and marine lifelines
  • Structural tie-rod and cable bracing
  • Shade sails and tensile membranes
