About this product

Grub Screw (Set Screw) DIN 916 explained

Grub screws lock pulleys, collars and couplings onto shafts, and we stock the full DIN socket set screw range in Umm Al Quwain from M2 to M30 — cup, flat, cone, dog and knurled cup points — in 45H alloy steel (black) and stainless A2 / A4, with hex and Torx drives.

A grub screw (socket set screw) is a headless screw with a hex socket at one end and a shaped point at the other. Tightened through a threaded hole in a hub, the point bears on the shaft and stops the hub rotating or sliding. Cup point (DIN 916) bites into the shaft for the strongest grip; flat point (DIN 913) for minimal marking and frequent adjustment; cone point (DIN 914) locates in a drilled dimple; dog point (DIN 915) enters a slot or hole for positive drive.

Applications

  • Pulleys, sprockets and couplings on shafts
  • Bearing collars and locking rings
  • Handles, knobs and hand-wheels
  • Gearbox and motor adaptors

  • Door handles, locks and hardware
