Machine Screw explained

Machine screws are stocked by the thousand in Umm Al Quwain in every common head — pan, countersunk, raised countersunk and cheese — from M2 to M16 in stainless A2 / A4, zinc-plated steel and brass, with Pozi, Phillips, slotted and Torx drives, plus nuts and washers to suit.

A machine screw is a small-diameter screw with a uniform thread along its full length, driven by a screwdriver and used in tapped holes or with a nut. Pan head (DIN 7985 / ISO 7045) is the general-purpose head; countersunk (DIN 965 / ISO 7046) sits flush; raised countersunk (DIN 966) is decorative; cheese head (DIN 84 / ISO 1207) has a tall, slotted head for high torque. Machine screws hold together electrical equipment, panels, enclosures, appliances and instruments.

Frequently asked

Machine Screw — FAQ

Pozi or Phillips?

Pozi (PZ) gives better bit engagement and less cam-out on DIN screws; Phillips (PH) is common on imperial and electrical equipment. Both are stocked.

What is the difference between a machine screw and a bolt?

Size and drive: machine screws are small (up to M10 / M16), full thread and driven by screwdriver; bolts are larger with a hex head for a spanner.

Do you stock A4 machine screws?

Yes, A4 pan and countersunk from M3 to M10 for coastal and marine electrical work.
